One Big Ego Or Many Seperate Selves
Have you ever considered that our ego may be comprised of a bunch of seperate reactionary patterns? Patterns that could be called seperate selves?
When ignited these ‘seperate selves’ feel totally different to our deeper self. The I AM brings peace, calmness, love, joy and stability. Yet these seperate self guys have unique feeling tones and vibrations. They inevitably to bring and pain and suffering along with them.
Seperate Self Example
Let’s take an example. I was going for a walk in nature and I came across another person in a narrow section of the path. It required one person to allow the other to go through first. I expected that this person would acknowledge me and smile and that we would both consider who would go through first. Instead, this person did not look at me and assumed to walk through first. I was left waiting and I did not receive any acknowledgment or thanks. Rrrrrr.
Seperate Self Giveaway
I felt fired up and angry. I was reacting to this person’s behaviour. I’m saying to myself ‘how rude’, ‘how selfish’, ‘the world isn’t just about you mate’. I have instantaneously formed an opinion on this person according to one of my seperate selves. I know this because I am in emotional discomfort.
If I look a little closer, I can see that I have made it about ‘me’. I can see that the “I’m a nothing” seperate self has been triggered. I am feeling emotional pain as this person’s behaviour has reignited a seperate self in me that believes that other people treat me like I am a nothing. Somewhere in my consciousness I am believing that I have no value or worth.
Wow! So this person not acknowledging me has shown me that there is still apart of me that believes that I have no value or worth. If that seperate self had been adequately let go of, then my reaction would have been different. I still may not have liked this person’s behaviour, however I wouldn’t have made their behaviour mean something about me. Instead I may have been curious as to why this man behaved like this. I could have even had compassion for how shut down he was. That would have been a lot more freer and spacious for me.
Seperate Self Bonanza
I don’t know about you, but I am starting to realise just how many seperate selves I have! For the majority of the day I have been living and reacting from out of touch expectations of my seperate selves. Seperate selves that are rooted in the past. Concepts that were created when I had less self awareness and understanding of life and other human beings and the reality of life on earth.
Here are some of the seperate selves that regularly show up for me. ‘I am not good enough’, ‘It’s not fair’, ‘I am no good’, ‘what a selfish person that is’ and so the list goes on. Right now I feel a little sad that these concepts have dominated my whole existence.
Yet, at least I’m starting to see them. A least I’m starting to sense my I AM presence which lives beyond them, and day by day, moment by moment, choose to identify with the I AM presence over the outdated stories.
